Brittany and Nelson were married on a mountaintop overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains...
I loved getting to know Brittany more a few months ago at her bridal portrait session at her Grandmother’s house in Floyd; getting a sneak peek of her wedding dress gave me a better idea of her style and got me SO excited for her wedding! When she mentioned that she was having a backyard wedding, I was expecting a MUCH smaller back yard – the huge field and immaculate view completely blew me away! Their first look took place in the whimsical, fern-filled forest behind her childhood home, so sweet and magical.
One thing that is certain about Brittany is that she does all things with love. She is a beautiful, creative spirit which is obvious from all of the gorgeous yellow and gray wedding decor. Their traditional guest book alternative was to have guests sign a globe, afterwards they would come to a lemonade stand to enjoy refreshments before entering the ceremony space. The entrance to the ceremony space was a wooden wall with double doors that was handmade by the bride’s family and led into a space filled with borrowed church pews. Brittany carried a gorgeous bouquet of white anemones (one of my favorite flowers). The mix and match bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire was a really fun idea, all of their choices played in perfectly to the vintage vibe of the wedding. Their wedding reception was held at a loft in downtown Galax that had hardwood floors and exposed brick (hello dream studio space) with a cookie bar and a sushi bar. Dinner was lit by candlelight where the couple fed each other sushi in lieu of wedding cake. At the end of the night, guests were sent home with customized Jones Soda with labels featuring Brittany and Nelson’s engagement photos.
Their wedding was one of those events that made me want to sit down with a pen and paper and start writing up plans for when I get married one day. A real dream come true wedding where I posted every last detail to my mental Pinterest (but really, I will probably pin half of these photos as soon as I hit publish on this post). Believe it or not, there are even more photos from this wedding over on my Facebook page if you can’t get enough! Brittany and Nelson also had amazing videographers at their wedding, I highly recommend that you check out the preview video by East West Production here.
