Book Review: "The Blender Girl Smoothies: 100 Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Paleo-Friendly Recipes" by Tess Masters

I decided to check out The Blender Girl Smoothies: 100 Gluten-Free, Vegan, and Paleo-Friendly Recipes because I love smoothies, but I pretty much only have one recipe for them [whatever berries I have in the house that might go bad soon + a handful of spinach = delicious] and I thought this book would help me branch out and try new things.  I fantasize about one day being a health food goddess who eats only paleo and vegan, but my reality is filled with Domino’s pizza at least once per week, this is the perfect opportunity for me to at least mix in some actual nutrients.

There are SO many recipes in this book, seriously tons.  Way more than I will every try because a lot of them contain ingredients that sound icky to me – yes, I’m as picky as a 3 year old.  I love that the book includes photos of each recipe because if I am making a smoothie that has berry in the name and it ends up green or brown, I would like to know that ahead of time.  There’s a section about selecting ingredients and what are good substitutions or additions for extra sweetness or a nutritional boost.  This book didn’t convert me over to a smoothie fanatic like I hoped it would, but there were still some really good recipes and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves smoothies and wants to be healthier!

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
