Mountain Lake Lodge Styled Wedding Photos | Virginia Wedding Photographer

In September, Mountain Lake Lodge hosted their annual Wedding Open House.  A few of the popular locations for weddings to be held, such as the ballroom and Mary’s Barn, were set up with vendors so couples could find their perfect wedding day team while touring their venue!  Once the open house was over, a few models arrived to have their makeup done by Jessica Hall from Glam House Day Spa and we gathered a few vendors together for a styled shoot.  We selected dresses, a jacket, earrings, and a veil from Chantilly Lace; wedding bands, engagement rings, and bracelets from Kent Jewelers; and flowers from Stonecrop Farms and Radford City Florist.  The scenic overlook of the Blue Ridge Mountains provided the perfect backdrop for our photo shoot and is another beautiful location at Mountain Lake for couples to tie the knot.  I am sneaking some non-wedding related photos in here from where I got silly with the events team from Mountain Lake during the shoot.  If your professional team headshots don’t include a cheerleader pyramid then you should act up next time because real smiles are the best smiles.  I am so happy that I had the opportunity to work with this fabulous group… all of the vendors and models were so much fun to hang out with and I cannot think of a better way to spend an afternoon than creating beautiful images with wonderful people.

Jordan and Justin’s Beliveau Estate Winery Wedding

There are venues that I love to work at again and again, but it is also nice to break out of your comfort zone and get to explore new locations! Beliveau Estates is practically in my back yard so it is kind of crazy that the first time I went there was for Justin and Jordan’s wedding. As you can see from the photos, the view out there is immaculate [and I think the route we took through Catawba might be my new favorite scenic drive when I need to clear my mind].

Justin and Jordan met at Steppin’ Out, Jordan said “We looked across a room and smiled at each other. The rest is history.” Justin proposed at a gazebo in Nellie’s Cave Park (where we took their engagement photos). He handed Jordan a bunny with a card, got down on one knee and faked her out by handing her a carrot that he had stashed in his sock. While she was distracted, he pulled out the ring and asked Jordan to be his wife.

Jordan’s “something blue” was the tag on her TOMS shoes, Justin, the groomsmen, and most of the bridesmaids also wore TOMS shoes (a company that donates shoes to kids in need whenever a pair is purchased). For something old and borrowed, Jordan wore her grandmother’s pearl necklace. Justin and Jordan’s close friends Patricia, Austin, and Josh performed live music at the reception. The entire day was an intimate celebration, very laid back and very filled with love. I brought my dear friend Eva along to assist with photographing the wedding, and I know for a fact that we both cried at a couple of tender moments we witnessed.
