Mallary + Steven | Blacksburg Lifestyle In Home Maternity Photographer

Once upon a time, I met a couple named Mallary and Steven and their sweet pit bull pup Roxy. Our first adventure was atop a big hill in Blacksburg. It was a dreary day, but they brightened it up with their smiles and love for each other as we took some photos to celebrate their engagement. Fast forward to a few months later, we took our show on the road to Asheville, North Carolina where Mallary and Steven tied the knot. The ceremony took place on the porch of a beautiful cabin they were renting along with their families for an intimate wedding celebration.

We met back in Blacksburg some time later to celebrate Mallary and Steven’s sweet little baby bump. Roxy was already making friends with her baby brother, Ryan. Their house was so stinkin’ adorable and coordinated, I offered Mallary the job of coming over and decorating mine too [I have a feeling she has her hands a little too full now]. The “Give Thanks” Banner might have given away the timeline of their photos as Thanksgiving which means some super adorable Christmas newborn photos of baby Ryan will be coming your way soon. Stay tuned!

Anna + Nathan's Hahn Horticulture Garden Anniversary Photos | Blacksburg Wedding Photographer

I love making photos at Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech.  When Anna mentioned that she likes the feel of English country garden, I knew it would be the perfect location for anniversary photos.  Anna and Nathan brought along their two fur babies to join in the fun – Eliot who is a dachshund and terrier mix and their new pup Wren who is a hound mix.  This was actually a two day event…  We risked it on the first day even though the clouds were looming and sure enough a downpour hit within the first 5 minutes we were there.  The second take, we were much luckier with the weather and were able to take tons of beautiful, non-soggy shots!

Natalee | Virginia Tech Senior Portrait and Graduation Photographer

I met Natalee a few years ago through mutual friends on social media.  If she looks familiar, you may have seen her giving her family a heart attack when I had her model wedding gowns for faux bridal portraits a few years ago [one of those photos are printed on my business cards still to this very day]!  We got together for some Virginia Tech graduation photos last fall when she was wrapping up her work on her bachelor’s degree.  Natalee and her beautiful yellow lab, Mia took a grand tour of Virginia Tech’s campus with me hitting all kinds of hot spots from Hahn Horticulture Garden, the Duck Pond, the Pylons, to Burruss Hall.  We wrapped it up by enjoying a couple of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes from Starbucks on top of the Kent Square parking garage, Mia loves that PSL almost as much as me!

Lauren + Michael's Chateau Morrisette Wedding

Virginia Winery Wedding Photos

Lauren and Michael met in graduate school at University of Southern California in Los Angeles where they were both teaching sections of the same class.  He recognized her at a coffee shop on campus later on and chatted her up.  As for the proposal, one night as they were about to head to dinner, Michael asked Lauren if he could see her hand while he was holding a Band Aid.  She gave him her right hand, he said “Wrong hand”.  When she handed him her left hand, he put the Band Aid (with her favorite Disney princess, Belle from Beauty and the Beast) on her ring finger, and asked “Will you marry me?”  Obviously she said yes or we wouldn’t be here looking at photos of their gorgeous winery wedding!

All week long the weather report was threatening thunderstorms, but I made a promise to Sally at Chateau Morrsiette that I would bring the sunshine for Lauren and Michael’s wedding and I totally delivered on that promise.  It was such a gorgeous day on the Blue Ridge Parkway!  The very first time I spoke to Lauren, she told me that she and Michael wanted their wedding day to feel intimate and comfortable, as far as I could see, that vision was achieved.  It truly felt more like a warm gathering of friends and family from around the country than a typical wedding day.  How handsome is their “best dog”, Raymond the Corgi-Chihuahua in his little bowtie from Rover The Pet Boutique?  Now let’s talk about the show stopping, jaw dropping, incredible flowers from Mark Frye of Creative Occasions.  He was kind enough to send me this coveted bouquet recipe: Coral Charm Peonies, Juliet Garden Roses, Free Spirit Roses, Peach Stock, Pink Astilbe, Peach Hypericum berries, Green mini hydrangea, Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, Ilse Spray Roses, and White O’Hara Garden Roses.
