The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech is one of my favorite wedding venues. I was so excited when they invited me to photograph the 14th Annual Hahn Horticulture Garden Gala a couple months ago. The event was beautiful - serene setting, stunning flower arrangements (of course), delicious food courtesy of Blue Ridge Catering, a silent auction full of unique pieces of artwork, and wonderful live music provided by Vinyl Tap.
I have been photographing this family since their daughter was a newborn, I love watching their family grow together and soon they'll be welcoming another sweet baby girl to the family. We met up for their Blacksburg maternity photos at the beautiful Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech where we enjoyed the beautiful lush foliage, Koi, and the extra friendly mallard ducks. I made Ali a fuchsia chrysanthemum flower crown to wear for some of her photos, once we were finished using it for the maternity photos, Catherine got to try her hand as a flower child and take it home as a souvenir from her photo shoot. Next we moved on the Virginia Tech Duck Pond where we got a quick few photos before we succumbed to the heat and pizza cravings. I cannot wait to meet their sweet new baby in a few weeks!
I love making photos at Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech. When Anna mentioned that she likes the feel of English country garden, I knew it would be the perfect location for anniversary photos. Anna and Nathan brought along their two fur babies to join in the fun – Eliot who is a dachshund and terrier mix and their new pup Wren who is a hound mix. This was actually a two day event… We risked it on the first day even though the clouds were looming and sure enough a downpour hit within the first 5 minutes we were there. The second take, we were much luckier with the weather and were able to take tons of beautiful, non-soggy shots!
