Did you happen to catch my Walking with a Ghost photos in my last blog post? I made a quick and spooky trip to Richmond, Virginia with my dear friend Brittany over the summer. I have been following Rest in Pieces on Instagram for ages, so I was very excited for a chance to visit the store in person. Rest in Pieces is a one-stop shop for weird folks like me. Tons of oddities and curiosities. I loved browsing through the bones, medical antiques, and specimens in the shop and of course, I had to take a million photos because I could never afford to purchase everything that I loved [the entire store] or have a place to put any of it. Even the store itself was stunning with their black façade with a grim reaper painted on it, their interior had high ceilings matte black walls, crown molding, and tin ceilings. If you are ever in the Oregon Hill neighborhood, make sure you visit Rest in Pieces and Hollywood Cemetery! The only spooky spot we had planned to visit but ran out of time was the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, but at least I will have an excuse to return to Richmond soon.
Do you remember Brett + Emily who were married at Boxtree Lodge a few years ago? Fun fact 1: their wedding was published in the print and online editions of The Knot. Fun fact 2: they now have a sweet little 8 week old baby girl named Cora! I was so excited to make the trip to Richmond over the weekend to meet her, take some sweet baby photos, and catch up with Emily.
These photos were taken on an apartment rooftop overlooking Richmond, Virginia (with an immaculate view of the city). Rachel has the most amazing long, dark hair which is the perfect contrast to her striking light green eyes.

Back in November I took a short road trip with one of my friends through Richmond, Virginia and up to Washington DC photographing models for a website called Zivity. This set of Rachel Dashae titled “Instax Gratification” was shot with my new Fuji Instax camera at Maymont Park in RVA.

Back in November I took a mini-road trip through Richmond, Virginia and up to Washington, DC with one of my friends to work with a few models on photo sets for a site called Zivity (kind of like Suicide Girls, but with much more creative freedom). This photo shoot was for a set called “Dans le Jardin”. It took place in one of the gardens at Maymont Park in RVA. The location was gorgeous, flowers were blooming everywhere even though it was already late fall, I can only imagine how beautiful it will be in the spring. I definitely plan on returning to Richmond sometime in the spring to find out. It was so nice to finally meet Rachel Dashae in person, she is a truly amazing model whose work I had admired online for quite some time.
This shoot was the first time I got to use my Fuji Instax camera, I got some really great shots from it! I made the long tutu myself out of a bolt of tulle I had lying around my house a couple of nights before I hit the road because I’m a crafty kid like that.
