Pillow Fight Engagement Photos | Blacksburg Engagement Photographer

I am kind of super embarrassed at how long it has taken me to share portraits I have made over the past year and half or so.  I especially love this shoot.  For some reason I got really obsessed with the idea of making a huge mess with feather pillows and Rebecca and Colin were wonderful enough to help me make that a reality.  I couldn’t have asked for a better couple to work with on this shoot, you have to be pretty chill to be willing to pick feathers out of everything you own for the next 2 years for a photo shoot.  Seriously, we didn’t even take these photos at my house and I am still finding remnants of these feathers in every nook and cranny.  RIP ruched blanket from Ikea that I could never de-feather.

Pillow fights, making messes, and laughing my buns off while making art… I live for this stuff.  Hit me up if you have an idea and want to get weird, no judgies I swear.

Prom Queen

Puck frolicked around in the warm golden rays of the afternoon sun.  He admired the shimmer of the iridescent sequins on structured bodice on his vintage 1950s prom dress; spinning round and round ensuring the tulle would move fluidly as he danced the night away with his fellow attendants.  He straightened his crown of ivy and applied more rouge to his lips.  The sweet, creamy fragrance of Magnolia trees breezed around him raising goosebumps across his skin.  The time had come and his prom night chariot awaits.

Wrightsville Beach Mermaids | Celestial Surf Studio + Spikey Peach Designs

While I was in Wilmington, North Carolina last summer, I did a mermaid inspired photo shoot at Wrightsville Beach with some ceramic artwork from Celestial Surf Studio and Handmade Costume Mermaid Bras by Spikey Peach Designs.  This gorgeous group of women was kind enough to splash around in the ocean with me.

Mountain Lake Lodge Styled Wedding Photos | Virginia Wedding Photographer

In September, Mountain Lake Lodge hosted their annual Wedding Open House.  A few of the popular locations for weddings to be held, such as the ballroom and Mary’s Barn, were set up with vendors so couples could find their perfect wedding day team while touring their venue!  Once the open house was over, a few models arrived to have their makeup done by Jessica Hall from Glam House Day Spa and we gathered a few vendors together for a styled shoot.  We selected dresses, a jacket, earrings, and a veil from Chantilly Lace; wedding bands, engagement rings, and bracelets from Kent Jewelers; and flowers from Stonecrop Farms and Radford City Florist.  The scenic overlook of the Blue Ridge Mountains provided the perfect backdrop for our photo shoot and is another beautiful location at Mountain Lake for couples to tie the knot.  I am sneaking some non-wedding related photos in here from where I got silly with the events team from Mountain Lake during the shoot.  If your professional team headshots don’t include a cheerleader pyramid then you should act up next time because real smiles are the best smiles.  I am so happy that I had the opportunity to work with this fabulous group… all of the vendors and models were so much fun to hang out with and I cannot think of a better way to spend an afternoon than creating beautiful images with wonderful people.

Vintage Themed Styled Shoot at Explore Park in Roanoke

Earlier this year I participated in a bridal expo in Roanoke.  I ended up meeting and reconnecting with some great vendors so I followed up afterwards to see if they'd be on board to collaborate on a styled shoot.  We went with a vintage theme (that ended up to have a little bit of a Great Gatsby wedding vibe).  The color palette was light blue and emerald green, which was perfect for that velvety green couch from Country Road Vintage Rentals.  The antique globe is from my grandmother's house and I've loved it since I was a little girl - I was so excited to finally be able to incorporate it into a photo shoot!  I've also been dying to see some blue thistle in floral arrangements so when I saw that Gloriosa had included them in the bouquet and the boutonniere I was thrilled.  The Rolls Royce we got to work with from Prestige Limousine was so stunning and pristine that I was afraid to touch it, so gorgeous!
