Leah | Blacksburg Belly Dancer Portraits

Leah contacted me at the end of her senior year at Virginia Tech to have belly dancing portraits taken. This was a first for me, but I was so excited to collaborate! Leah was a member of Virginia Tech's Hill and Veil belly dance organization and wanted some photos to use for her portfolio so she can continue to perform. Since we were getting a little out of the box for her photo session already, I decided that I would make a crown of wood and light green crystal quartz shards as well!

Blacksburg Boudoir Photography

I love photographing boudoir and I am so grateful that Blair gave me the chance to photograph her and let me share the images. Boudoir photography is emotional, you must overcome any insecurities that you might have about yourself and allow yourself to be in a vulnerable state all while trying not to overthink how to “look sexy”. The way it really goes down is I make you listen to inappropriate music from the 90’s while I make an ass out of myself trying to tell you jokes. Boudoir is like a scary water slide, it looks terrifying from the bottom, even more so once you get to the top, and then you do it and feel totally invigorated and like such a badass because it was actually fun, and you overcame your reservations.

I had big dreams and ideas for this year and wanted to put a lot more focus into boudoir photography. Unfortunately, much of this year was filled with personal issues that did not allow me to follow through with some of the really amazing ideas that I had for specially styled boudoir photo sessions… They’re still in the works for 2019, but I’m afraid the afternoons of radiant sunshine are behind us for this year.

I am very excited to say that I have made some headway for planning an indoor boudoir marathon day later this year for those of you hoping to gift a beautiful boudoir album to your partner for Christmas. Save the date for Sunday, November 18 and enter your email address using the form below so you will be the first notified when registration opens soon!

The Haunted: Meg for Bride of the Fox Vintage | Blacksburg Branding Photography

I teamed up with Lauren from Bride of the Fox: Fine Vintage Women's Wear & Lingerie to photograph some stunning vintage pieces from her Etsy shop. The model for this portion of our photos is Meg, we have a few mutual friends, but this was my first opportunity to meet this lovely lady in person! I love when my internet acquaintances become IRL friends. This is part 2 from our shoot, if you missed part one, check out The Haunted: Rebecca for Bride of the Fox Vintage | Blacksburg Branding Photography. Stay tuned for more gorgeous vintage fashion in a hauntingly beautiful forgotten location filled with chipped paint, exposed brick, hardwood floors, and peeling floral wallpaper.

Rest in Pieces | Richmond, Virginia

Did you happen to catch my Walking with a Ghost photos in my last blog post? I made a quick and spooky trip to Richmond, Virginia with my dear friend Brittany over the summer. I have been following Rest in Pieces on Instagram for ages, so I was very excited for a chance to visit the store in person. Rest in Pieces is a one-stop shop for weird folks like me. Tons of oddities and curiosities. I loved browsing through the bones, medical antiques, and specimens in the shop and of course, I had to take a million photos because I could never afford to purchase everything that I loved [the entire store] or have a place to put any of it. Even the store itself was stunning with their black façade with a grim reaper painted on it, their interior had high ceilings matte black walls, crown molding, and tin ceilings. If you are ever in the Oregon Hill neighborhood, make sure you visit Rest in Pieces and Hollywood Cemetery! The only spooky spot we had planned to visit but ran out of time was the Edgar Allan Poe Museum, but at least I will have an excuse to return to Richmond soon.
